A cypherpunks manifesto

A cypherpunks manifesto

“For privacy to be widespread it must be part of a social contract. People must come and together deploy these systems for the common good. Privacy only extends so far as the cooperation of one’s fellows in society.”

What does this mean?

We are dependant on the people we interact with to our own and their own privacy to allow us to remain private.

To many this means nothing and it doesn`t seem important, but if we look back in history or to government forms that are considered “not democratic” criticaly we may be able to identify what corrupt institutions are looking for and try to silence: Critical and independant thoughts, people sharing “dangerous” information and those speaking up against what’s wrong.

Therefore comfort is not a excuse to negligently risk our own and others privacy.

In times where technology is developing faster and faster and Governments around the World are trying to Limit free speech, people realize how cirrupt they are and economies will soon fail, this becomes more and more important.
