Kenya, Day 5

Kenya, Day 5

My friends on the roof wake me up again. My head and my legs hurt. Last night flashes by and i remember why my head hurts. I exchange fluids, use my medicine and go back to bed again. Vacation is great. Reading in bed and falling asleep while doing so – this is my plan for the day.

I want to stick to the doctors advise and rest. Reading, sleeping and seeing the scenery from my balcony just feels right. This is gonna be a very slow day, but hey – i am on vacation, am i not? I don`t recall when i have last been so relaxed.

A late lunch, of course consisting of those delicious Mangos on the balcony reminds me i am not in my usual space – the colors feel so bright, the sun so intense, the sounds so exotic – i feel so happy. In pain, but happy.

In the evening Jessica calls and asks how i am and if i have been eating. Mangos don`t seem to be a appropriate meal in Kenya. We go to a place between Carrefour Market and Naivas Supermarket.

It`s pretty late already, but the place is buzzing. The grill is more or less in the middle of the walkway, half the seats are indoors, half are outside. We take a seat and of course Jessica knows our waitress from earlier, they exchange numbers. We sit close to the grill which prepares chicken and beef – it smells amazing.

We get “Kachumbari“, “Ugali” and some grilled chicken.

I wash my hands and put my tools away after some testing. The food does taste even better if you eat it with your hands. The Tomatoes are so juicy and tasty, the lime and onions just round them up, the fresh Chili adds spice, the Ugali adds texture and the chicken crispiness and flavor- all munched together with your fingers seconds before stuffing it in my mouth. I love it.

Yes. I did eat into my ugali before taking pictures.
