Kenya, Day 3 – Diani Beach

Kenya, Day 3 – Diani Beach

Finally – no travelling anymore. I get woken up by some bird noises and sun beams shining on my face and feel relaxed. Nothing i have to do, no task list for the first time in ages, it feels as if my Vacation just begun, i am there. I drink some water, go to the toilet and back to bed.

I was waking up again soaked in sweet. Oh. my. god. It was hot. Still nothing to do, but the Beach is close and i didn’t book my Kite-surfing course yet. A little bit of salty water later i am on my way.

Arriving at the Beach i see a nice Bar right there and i feel like i need some more water already, it is hot. So i take a seat and am promptly served.

The view is really nice and there is plenty of Shadow. My water is ice cold. Oh my God, i missed the sea. I just sit, nip on my water slowly and enjoy the scenery and the feeling of freedom.

After some time the Beach guys start to show up and try to sell me stuff – i decline them politely but opt for a fresh Coconut for 500KSH – way to expensive as i later lernt.

After i finished my water i wanted to go and book my Kite surfing class. The sand feels great under my shows while walking. Did i say i missed the beach and the ocean?

Some Beach Guys approach me and i kindly try to decline, but they keep following me. I pass a shop where Pareos are being sold and the Vendor approaches me. I ask her if i look female and she tells me she also has male clothing – i agree to view them to get a pause. She presents me a bunch of Trikots. I tell her i don`t like Polyester clothing and wish her a nice day.

Arriving at Kenya Kite – Water Sports Centre and Kite School i check the prices (230€ for a 3x2h Group Course) and agree to come by the next morning around 10 am.

On my way back, the Pareo Vendor approaches me again, asking to sit down and talk, to which i agree. We sit, enjoy the sun, drink some rum and talk about god and the world as long she doesn’t have to run to get customers. Time flies and i feel i should get some shadow, so i excuse myself after Jessica promised to get me some nice fresh Mangos from the market for the next day.

I grab 2 Mangos from a Vendor on the way for lunch and head back to my Room to eat and take a nap.

The Mangos in my hand are clearly getting notices – my new friends sit in front of me watch me and as i walk past run in front of me again to repeat the game. The Mangos are delicious – so juicy, fresh and sweet, i feel as if i have never eaten Mangos before.

I wake up again and feel as if i need a water exchange. I step out of the bed and feel instant, intense pain in my left calf. Where is that coming from? I look and my legs and find them as red as a Massai dress. I apply after sun and the pain gets less.

I am hungry and don’t want to eat alone so i text a girl and ask if she want’s to grab dinner with me and where to go. She suggests “Apero“, in a a bit over an hour and i agree. Enough time for a shower and some more after sun.

There is still plenty time left, so i decide to walk – when i approach the Villa Gate the Guard, Nicolas greats me and asks me what im up to – i tell him my plan and he asks me if he can walk with me – i agree and we walk and talk – he tells me i am the first white guy he talked to more then a minute.

I order a 300g Steak and a beer and she some Chicken Soup and Wine. The waitress brings me a great Steak and Chicken Wings for her – being nice, i ask to leave the Chicken Wings and eat them as well. 3 dishes, several Wine and Beer total 6000KSH at the end, which seems fairly reasonable.
